USA Austausch 2008
Meeting in Germany
Having had some time to enjoy a quiet home, now it was suddenly time for our American friends to visit us. And for most of them it was the first time in Germany or even the first time in Europe. Fortunately everyone got along with each other very well and so we had three amazing weeks, presenting our friends parts of the German culture: After sleeping much at the weekend, the Monday morning came and so school started. I am quite sure that most Americans were in spite of our warnings impressed of the school size and the level. 800 compared to 2500 is such a small number, but nevertheless many enjoyed our system with the changing schedule, the shorter school days and less control. It was also good that we had mainly finished with the tests, so we had plenty of time to spend with them. So the Tuesday arrived and the Americans left after such a short time for a trip to the Harz. That was sad because that meant one whole week less. Even the long weekend afterwards did not equal that loss. But having our exchange partners back, we had many options to do like the Music Show, water skiing, a trip to the Hansa Park, long afternoons at the beach and so on and so on. The second week was also marked by the Berlin trip where we did a three-hour city tour and a little shopping of course. I am pretty sure that really every American was impressed of our capital including the mixture of cultural and modern buildings, the historical influences and the world public. There were so many things to see and in the evening we all got home exhausted but content and – I hope – even the boys were not too disappointed of missing the beginning of the German soccer game. The weekend went over quickly with a garden party and a real GERMAN movie and so the third and last week started where we had more exiting activities for example a trip to Ratzeburg and a farewell party and then the last and sad Saturday arrived and we had to say good bye… Isabel Links: Schülerbericht: Chicago - The windy City - Marcel - Schülerbericht: Alltag in einer amerikanischen Schule - Alina und Jana-Aline Bericht vom Deutschlandbesuch der Amerikaner - Gabriele von Reusner (30.09.2008) Bericht von der USA-Reise - G.von Reusner (10.03.2008) |
